No Motivation for Being Organized? No Problem





Motivation

Motivation is hugely important for you to be able to maintain organization. It is said that organizing is somewhat like a journey. You reach your goal and can reap the benefits that it provides, but still, it’s not the end.

Organizing is a continuous journey.

You experience success every step of the way – you notice that everything is running okay including your home, your schedule and your life. It makes you happy and satisfied.

However, things may go back to the way that they used to be.

You may find yourself not putting things back where they belong, start filling your calendar with new events and tasks to do and you may even find yourself going out to buy new items which you have been unable to find! Back to square one.

Let’s be realistic, life continues and during the process, the clutter may also return.

However, this is not the point of being organized. The ultimate aim for turning yourself into an organized individual is not to get to the destination called “organization” and remain there for a lifetime. Instead, your goal is setting yourself up for success and ease of managing your life on a day to day basis, and also when things inevitably evolve.

You may have been discouraged to continue in the past, as you find yourself repeating the same tasks over and over again. You start telling yourself that organizing is pointless and it just goes on and on. How will you be able to stay motivated and determined to take on this never-ending job?

Well, here are some tips for you to follow:

• Shift your viewpoint – you have to embrace that you will encounter everyday clutter because it is an indication that you are living a normal, productive, full and cheerful life. Especially when you have children!

• Tidy up as you go – instead of being distracted by everyday clutter, choose to clean and place the things back to where they belong as you go throughout your day. Why don’t you look for empty containers or boxes to use as carriers for your displaced items and do a sweep at different times of the day? This way, arranging all your stuff will be more enjoyable and much less hassle-free.

• Do regular evaluations of your items – reassess all your belongings frequently. Keep in mind that the less items you keep, the less time you will spend dealing with them. When your house is filled with only those items that you use daily, you will spend more time doing things you need and want to do rather than managing items that don’t really need to be there!

• Keep your organization system simple – when it comes to organization, always remember that you must keep it simple so that it will be less difficult to accomplish. Go for the organizing solutions that are efficient. Try keeping things in the location that you will need them i.e cleaning products under the sink, sellotape, stamps etc in the study – whatever works for your family.

These tips will help you keep your motivation going. Essentially, do small steps every day and keep it simple!
